As we are thinking about types of Celtic crosses like the traditional Celtic cross pendants as well as types of Celtic crosses like the Claddagh cross necklace and the Clover cross necklace, let's look at an old Irish Christmas carol to set the mood.

Christmas In Killarny

The holly green, the ivy green
The prettiest picture you've ever seen
Is Christmas in Killarney
With all of the folks at home
It's nice, you know, to kiss your beau
While cuddling under the mistletoe
And Santa Claus you know, of course
Is one of the boys from home

The door is always open
The neighbors pay a call
And Father John before he's gone
Will bless the house and all
How grand it feels to click your heels

And join in the fun of the jigs and reels
I'm handing you no blarney
The likes you've never known
Is Christmas in Killarney
With all of the folks at home.

Types Of Celtic Crosses

There are many types of Celtic crosses like the two shown at the top of this blog and then there are two others... Clover cross necklace and the Shamrock cross necklace. The third picture of Celtic cross pendants is a wonderful and popular example of a  sterling silver Irish Clover cross necklace.

This last type of Celtic crosses shown in this post is a sterling silver Claddagh cross necklace. The popular Irish Claddagh replaces the Celtic circle. The Claddagh meaning goes great with a Celtic cross necklace.

Irish Christmas

Irish Christmas

Is there any other way to make Christmas and Irish Christmas than with sterling silver Irish jewelry?  Let's look at Irish jewelry as a excellent Christmas gift giving idea. While we are doing that let's look at an old Irish Christmas Carol called THE WEXORD CAROL. Let's look at the lyrics, all five verses:

Good people all, this Christmas-time,
Consider well and bear in mind
What our good God for us has done
In sending his beloved Son.
With Mary holy we should pray
To God with love this Christmas day;
In Bethlehem upon that morn
There was a blessed Messiah born.
The night before that happy tide
The noble Virgin and her guide
Were long time seeking up and down
To find a lodging in the town.
But mark how all things came to pass;
From every door repelled alas!
As long foretold, their refuge all
Was but an humble ox's stall.
There were three wise men from afar
Directed by a glorious star,
And on they wandered night and day
Until they came where Jesus lay,
And when they came unto that place
Where our beloved Messiah was,
They humbly cast them at his feet,
With gifts of gold and incense sweet.

Near Bethlehem did shepherds keep
Their flocks of lambs and feeding sheep;
To whom God's angels did appear,
Which put the shepherds in great fear.
"Prepare and go", the angles said.
'To Bethlehem, be not afraid,
For there you'll find this happy morn,
A princely babe, sweet Jesus born.

With thankful heart and joyful mind,
The shepherds went the babe to find,
And as God's angel had foretold,
They did our savior Christ behold.
Within a manger he was laid,
And by his side the virgin maid,
Attending on the Lord of life,
Who came on earth to end all strife.
