Celtic Cross Necklace
The Celtic cross has been around before Christianity came to the Celts. Of course there is the traditional lure that the Celtic cross came from St. Patricks missionary efforts among the Celtic or Irish. How the Celtic cross necklace came into being isn't as important now as is the point that the Celtic cross necklace is wildly popular and considered mainstream cross necklaces.
The silver Celtic cross necklace is a mainstream cross necklace but it is still different in that the Celtic cross pendant is far more symbolic that the tradition cross pendant. Let's look at a few silver Celtic cross necklaces and look specifically on the symbolism.
The first silver Celtic cross necklace picture has the traditional Celtic circle in the intersection. The Celtic circle represents eternity. The Irish clover isn't on that many silver Celtic cross necklaces but when it does it represents the Holy Trinity. Three leaves each represents a member of the Trinity. The Celtic trinity knots have the same symbolism.
The silver Celtic cross pendant in this Irish Celtic cross necklace has the trinity knots on the end caps. It also has a Claddagh symbol in place of the traditional Celtic circle. On top of the Claddagh symbol is another trinity knot. The Claddagh symbol has a pair of hands holding a heart with a crown on top of the heart. The hands mean friendship, the heart means love and the crown mean loyalty and fidelity.
