Illegal Shipment Of Wild Horses To Slaughter

 

I am a horse lover. I love everything about the horse from the history of the horses to the majesty of the horse both thoroughbred horses to the wild mustang horse and everything about the horse. I also have a interest in mules and donkeys.

 

That's why I am upset over an article I read this morning about an investigation going on about the illegal shipment of wild horses to slaughter. These horse have a lot to offer and there are plenty of horse lovers who would adopt these horses. It would be cheaper to adopt them out than send them away for slaughter.

In an article written by John Hollenhorst for WWW.KSL.com it says in part:

 

"An investigation is underway to find out if 1700 wild horses were illegally shipped off to slaughter. That number was confirmed for the first time today amidst demands for an immediate halt to roundups on public land.

 

Wild horse lovers accuse the BLM of driving them to extinction while turning a blind eye to their slaughter for horse meat. The BLM countered they're stepping up roundups because the horses are facing disaster.

 

They're an icon of the West. But they're threatened by extreme pressure from drought and wildfires, the BLM says, so they can't be left out on the range to die. "It would be an ecological and, I think, a social disaster," said Edwin Roberson, Assistant Director at the Bureau of Land Management."

 

It think it would be a social diaster to let the horses die. Round up only what is absolutely needed and put them up for adoption by local horse lovers at an affordable price. This way the horses can live a good life under the watchful care of someone who cares about horses. 

 

Everytime their is a round up they blame it on different reasons but it all ends up the same way. They never seem to learn their lesson. sure they auction of a few horses but in the end the horses are either sold or they are slaughtered. Adopt out at a very affordable price the horses to those who would take good care of them and let them live out there lives.
