Irish Cross Necklace

IRISH CROSS NECKLACE

Celtic crosses or Irish cross necklaces are consider to be the same genre of cross necklaces for most people and for the sake of this blog post will be treated as such. As you will see from the pictures there is a lot of overlap between Irish symbols and Celtic symbols and frequently they are used together to make the same Celtic Irish cross.

This Irish cross necklace is a great example of a Irish influence where the clover takes the place of the Celtic circle. Celtic cross shamrock necklace also has some Celtic knot-work and trinity knots at the end cap.

Celtic crosses comprise some of the richest symbolic cross necklaces in the entire cross jewelry genre.

(This is a authentic and traditional Celtic cross necklace.)

The blog post compares cross necklaces from the Celtic side, the Irish side and the combination of symbols.

The following picture is a good example of a traditional Irish cross necklace:

This is a perfect example of an Irish cross necklace because it sports a Irish shamrock or three leaf clover in the center of the Celtic circle. But is does add Celtic trinity knots and Celtic knot-work.

The silver Claddagh Pendant Cross necklace is also a great example of an Irish influenced cross necklace.

The Saint Bridget cross necklace is a classic Irish cross necklace, unique because it does not resemble and other type of Irish cross necklace or Celtic cross necklace.

Another very unique Celtic cross necklace, and this is in no way related to Irish cross necklaces, it is in its own specialized genre of cross necklaces is the Triskele cross pendant necklace.
