Cross Pendants

Cross pendants are a huge part of Christian jewelry and have have numerous symbols beyond the traditional symbolism of the Cross. This post focuses on the Budded cross pendants.

Budded Cross pendants are also know as the Apostles Cross, Disciples Cross, the Trefoil Cross.

A budded cross pendant is generally a Latin cross with each end cap consisting of a bud which some consider a fleur de lis variation others consider it to be a three-leaf clover end cap.

These three buds represent the Trinity or Godhead. Others use the symbology to refer to the great bible virtues of Faith, Hope and Love. This kind og symbolsim for the cross pendant adds deepth to Christian Jewelry.

The three buds as end caps is where the reference of Trefoil or Treflee come into play representing the symbolism of three.

The Apostles Cross Pendant symbolism comes from the following: The cross has four arms with three buds on each arm. This creates twelve which conicides with the original twelve Apostles. The bible frequently refers to the Apostles as disciples so it also is called a Disciples Cross.

Cross pendants have even more symbolism than this post covers. We'll review the other symbolism in other cross pendant posts. Cross pendants are great because they can go with many different sterling silver necklace chains and other necklace mediums making for great cross necklaces.
