Disciples Cross Necklace. Budded Cross Necklaces

The Budded Cross is also know as the Apostles Cross, Disciples Cross, Trefoil Cross, Bottony Cross or the Cathedral Cross. Uses this type of Cross makes for a popular and highly symbolic cross necklace.

A budded cross is generally a Latin cross with each end cap consisting of a bud which some consider a fleur de lis variation others consider it to be a three-leaf clover end cap. These three buds are used in Christianity to represent the Trinity or Godhead. Some go so far as to use these three buds to represent the great bible virtues of Faith, Hope and Love. The three buds as end caps is where the reference of Trefoil or Treflee come into play representing the symbolism of three.

Other Christian symbolism for the Disciples Cross or Budded Cross necklaces is a connection with Aaron's staff that budded and was preserved in the Ark of the Covenant, showing that life can emerge from death. It also represents the buds of a flower where there is no guarantee the the buds will bloom but we have faith that they will. The faith is rewarded with a beautiful flower.
Since there are four arms, each with three buds, another name of this cross is the Apostles' Cross, with one bud for each of the twelve apostles. The bible frequently refers to the Apostles as disciples so it also is called an Apostles Cross or Disciples Cross.
The modern influence of cross design adds style to these cross necklaces so you get high fashion with the symbolism of these styles.
