Symbolism of Celtic Jewelry
Celtic jewelry derives it's vast symbols and imagery from the celtic signs and symbols of the people know as Celt's that lived as a civilization and culture from around 500 BC to 400 AD.
The common denominator in all Celtic sumbolism is the use of geometric designs. Straight lines, curves, circles, squares and a myriad of other styles of lines that make up beutiful symbols that are still wildly popular today. In modern Celtic Jewelry there are symbols that harken back to the Celtic people and designs that are modern but contain similar geometric designs as the old symbols.
When the Celt's were in their zenith they had a very large force spanning from the UK regions throughout western Europe. The one unfortunate thing is that lack of a written language to explain the meanings of the symbols. We know what some symbols mean by the way they were used. We know other symbols meanings by the history of conquering forces and their writtings.
We also know that in the 900 or so years of existance they often used symbols in one era one way and in another era they use the same symbols another way.
With all this confusion of truely understanding what there delightful symbols mean, it hasn't seemed to bother anyone as Celtic Jewelry is vastly popular today in use in the facades of buildings, churches, desings and jewelry.
For a great selection of Celtic jewelry like Celtic Rings, Celtic necklaces, Celtic Cross necklaces, Celtic Earrings, Celtic Jewelry Toe Rings etc. you can symply go to Celtic Jewelry and shop until you drop and come away with delightful Celtic Jewelry treasures.
